Warm weather is upon us, kids are out of school, and vacation travel plans may be in the works. As you plan your summer activities, keep in mind safety precautions. “Preventable injuries, commonly known as 'accidents,' are the fourth leading cause of U.S. deaths,” says the National Safety Council (NSC).
 

National Safety Month highlights leading causes of preventable injury and death so people can live their fullest lives. Be sure to click on the NSC website link nsc.org/workplace/national-safety-month to learn more about areas that can make the greatest impact on safety: workplace, roadway, and impairment.
 

For each week of June, NSC will focus on a different topic:

• Week 1—Emergency Preparedness
• Week 2—Slips, Trips, and Falls
• Week 3—Heat-related Illness
• Week 4—Hazard Recognition

It all boils down to asking—asking people to join your team, asking for sponsored rewards, asking for matching funds, and ultimately, asking people to contribute to your campaign. All this asking can feel daunting and even a bit uncomfortable at times. But that cultural bias is misguided! Amanda Palmer points this out in her groundbreaking book, The Art of Asking. She says that making the ask is an invitation to others to join you in your vision. It is a doorway to deepening connections with others. People actually want to be asked to be part of something that adds goodness to the world.
